The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) has awarded 5M worth of five farm machineries to registered Farm Associations under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).
Five registered farm associations received RCEF mechanization assistance composed of 1 Riding Type Transplanter, 1 Four Wheel Tractor, 1 unit Handtractor, 1 unit Walk Behind Transplanter and Combine Harvester.
The RCEF Program on Awarding and Blessing of Agricultural Farm Machineries initially started with a brief program attended by selected municipal officials under Executive and Legislative Department; Mr. Angel V. Peliglorio Jr. – OIC, Municipal Administrator’s Office, Hon. Angelito S. Rubia – Municipal Vice Mayor, Hon. Harry F. Golocan – Chairman, Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries, Ms. Janine F. Torres – Municipal Agriculturist.
Other attendees were Hon. Leoncio A. Lungcay – MAFC Chair and Mt. View Punong Barangay, Hon. George A. Legazpi – Balon Anito Punong Barangay, Mr. Rod Reyes – Brgy. Sisiman Councilor, Mr. Arnold Selorio – Brgy. Baseco Administrator, Municipal Agriculture Office staff and chairman of farm associations.
Ms. Torres said that through Mariveles Municipal Mayor, Atty. Jocelyn P. Castañeda, the application in PhilMech was forwarded and approved.
The application and requirements of registered farm associations was prepared by Ms. Torres and Hon. Harry F. Golocan – Chairman, Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries supported the application through an SB Resolution – in line with Republic Act No. 11203 – “(a) Rice Farm Machineries and Equipment – Fifty percent (50%) of the Rice Fund shall be released to and implemented by the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) as grant in kind to eligible farmers’ associations, registered rice cooperatives and local government units (LGUs)”.
“Malaki po ang tulong ng mga machineries sa aming mga magsasaka at papangalagaan namin ang paggamit sa mga ito”, Chairman of Farmers Association, Ernesto R. Angat said.
The Local Government Unit of Mariveles supports the needs of farmers and holds trust in the commitment of officials’ service in agriculture.
