MUNICIPAL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT OFFICE

MISSION

To provide unparalleled service to the community, making them safe, and as much as possible, preventing loss of lives and damages to properties that may be brought about by the inevitable hazards or calamity, uphold reliability in service, especially in the event of disaster, from simple to complex, to finally bring stability whenever an occurrence of danger is present.

Mitigate impact of disaster thru effective disaster management. Manage disaster issues in our capacity to respond to a call of duty with precise execution of plans and strategies, keeping both the victims and the responders’ safe, to deal with an almost impossible task into a simple matter and to provide an immediate solution to the problem thru performance of duty.

VISION

To be able to establish a reliable Mariveles-rescue unit with advanced facilities that provides efficient services where plans, trainings and programs can adapt to the changing times.

Established a perfect environment where women, children, and families, both young and old, sick and disabled persons are safe and secured and with crafted measures to overcome obstacles and defined overview of hazards and risks.

Function of the Office

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Mariveles is the frontline of providing (1) Disaster Prevention and Mitigation; (2) Preparedness; (3) Disaster Response; and (4) Rehabilitation and Recovery, – the Four Thematic Areas of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.

The office was created in compliance with Republic Act 10121 or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010. MDRRMO is headed by Engr. Marcelo C. Serrano, LDRRM Officer III.

MDRRMO is LGU's official disaster preparedness and response unit tasked to provide appropriate training and response service to constituents in times of flooding, typhoons, earthquake, fire, and other occurrence of danger. The office also ensures preparedness and survival of local communities in times of disasters, both natural and human-induced.

MDRRMO also conducts capacity building activities to develop and strengthen skills and abilities of the organization and the community, DRRM mainstreaming, and regular information and education programs for schools, public and private sector employees, and private individuals on the various aspects of disaster risk reduction and management.
