The Local Government Unit of Mariveles headed by Mayor Jocelyn P Castańeda and the Authority of Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) are working hand -in -hand for the betterment of the community.

This was revealed yesterday by AFAB chairman and administrator Emmanuel D Pineda during the “Kapihan with media” in Crown hotel, Balanga city, who said that they had also agreed with Mayor Castañeda to form a steering committee called “Mariveles AFAB partnership steering committee” (MAPSC) to work together for the interest of the workers in AFAB and the people of Mariveles.

“AFAB and Mayor Castañeda are working closely how to help and assist the people, the LGU of Mariveles, particularly the workers of AFAB,” pointed out Pineda.

Pineda said that among their priorities are housing projects, decongestion of monstrous traffic jams and other various issues besetting the town.
Most of the AFAB workers are residing in Mariveles, an industrial town that is facing shortage of housing to dwell and the worsening traffic condition.
Earlier, Mayor Castañeda and Municipal administrator Angel Peliglorio, Jr., met with District engr Ulysses Llado of the Public works snd highways to come up with a solution on the worsening traffic problem.
Among the proposal of Mayor Castañeda are the widening of the Bypass road from the municipal hall all the way to San Isidro, Balon Anito passing thru the Mariveles mental hospital and construction of a new wide bridge.
“We are bent on solving this traffic problem due to the increasing number of our population,” added Mayor Castañeda.-Mar T Supnad
