The 627-strong members employed as Job Order (JO) in this municipality have been insured, thanks to Mayor Atty. Jocelyn P. Castañeda for initiating the insurance of the employes.

In lauding her move, the JOs said Mayor Castañeda succeeded in securing the JOs where her predecessor has failed.

Few days ago, Mayor Castañeda, SSS Mariveles Branch Head Jordan A. Herrera and HRMO Head Carlyn Marie Manalo formally signed the Memorandum of Agreement for SSS coverage of Mariveles Job Order personnel.

Mayor Castañeda said this is in pursuant to Social Security Commission Resolution No. 171-s.2014 to ensure the SSS coverage and remittance of the monthly SSS contributions of the Local Government Units ‘Job Order personnel’ through the salary-deduction scheme under the Kaltas-Collect Program.

With their membership, JOs here can then avail of various benefits from SSS such as salary loans, hospitalization, among others.

Earlier, SSS branch manager for Bataan Joel Villafuerte told this writer that there are still LGUs who do not want to insure their JOs brought about perhaps by lack of fund or refusal by the local leadership to pay their (JOs) monthly insurance contribution.

The JOs here lauded Mayor Castañeda for her initiatives, saying this will further make them buckle down to work for the interest of the town.-Mar T Supnad
